Happy New Year! Don't Drink and Drive; Get a Cab!

The best gift is friendship. If you decide to drink and drive you are endangering the lives of others and their friends. This is my Public Service Announcement for the end of 2007. It only costs $67 to get a cab from Sunset Blvd in Hollywood to any place in the Valley or Pasadena. Which is much smarter and cheaper than what Micha Barton, the girl from the OC's, decision to drive drunk and without a valid driver's licence. She could face fines of up to $3,5000. But hey she can afford it so who cares right? Wrong? Since we are not all celebrities this is what we can expect to pay for a DUI in California.

Be safe, be smart, stay alive.

Peace in 2008.

The Godfather Part III

There is very little to say about this film. It has been six years since I watched it the first time when I bought the Godfather DVD collection in 2001. There's a reason for that, The Godfather Part III is an elegant parody of the first two films by Francis Ford Coppola.

The controlled elegance or Al Pacino's acting in the first two movies is lost with Andy Garcia's uncontrollable Vincent Mancini. A hothead that brings down the family and sleeps with his first cousin, played by Sofia Coppola. Mancini only reinforces the Arthurian truism, nothing good can come of bastard offspring born outside of marriage. They are the harbinger of destruction.

I enjoyed watching it tonight on Christmas because its so hilariously bad. OMGWTFBBBQ!!! There are scenes when I just burst out laughing. Let's list all the embarrassing motifs that make this the worst Gangster picture ever made.

Mancini picks a fight at a party. Which would never happen in Godfather I or II.

He bites a guys ear off at the party. Which would never happen in Godfather I or II.

Acts of violence in the home were forbidden. Carlo and Tessio were killed in the driveway or taken away from the home.

Mancini exposes his chest hair for all of us to see.

Mancini wears a red silk night robe? What gangster would wear a night robe?

Mancini monologues like a James Bond villain. the character becomes a parody unto himself.

The scene where all the mobsters are killed by a helicopter and a guy is screaming for his, "lucky coat."
More later, I am laughing to much . . .

Playstation 3 is for PORN!

This is not the kind of publicity SONY Corp. needs for the Playstation 3. However it may make owners of the over-hyped, underplayed system happy to know that there will be new Porn titles out for the Playstaino 3 as a Blu-ray disc player. Hey I am not making this stuff up, click on the link for more.

You can now see more than one type of Pirate movie on Playstation 3 this holiday season.

Timbaland - The Must Get Music for Christmas

Timabaland's new CD is awesome. He is the Hip Hop Everyman. The best producer in the Game. Keri Hilson's loops are so sweet I never get tired of playing the CD in the back ground. I got the album "Shock Value" for my birthday. Yeah if you are under the age of 35, which I am, praise Jesus, who loves me BTW, then get this CD. Ten Rules for Business Success

There was an article about France's best known blogger, Loïc Le Meur, in the Financial Times today. He has ten rules for achieving success in business. I found it quite interesting and copied it all here:

  1. Don’t wait for a revolutionary idea. It will never happen. Just focus on a simple, exciting, empty space and execute as fast as possible.

  2. Share your idea. The more you share, the more you get advice and the more you learn. Meet and talk to your competitors.

  3. Build a community. Use blogging and social software to make sure people hear about you.

  4. Listen to your community. Answer questions and build your product with their feedback.

  5. Gather a great team. Select those with very different skills from you. Look for people who are better than you.

  6. Be the first to recognise a problem. Everyone makes mistakes. Address the issue in public, learn about and correct it.

  7. Don’t spend time on market research. Launch test versions as early as possible. Keep improving the product in the open.

  8. Don’t obsess over spreadsheet business plans. They are not going to turn out as you predict, in any case.

  9. Don’t plan a big marketing effort. It’s much more important and powerful that your community loves the product.

  10. Don’t focus on getting rich. Focus on your users. Money is a consequence of success, not a goal.

Tokio Hotel - Monsoon

They, the record company took the other video down. Hmmm, must post another.

Tokio Hotel al Festivalbar Milano - Monsoon

Glam Rock is alive and well in Europe. The lead singer is a DUDE named Bill, who looks like a GIRL, that looks like a GUY, that looks like a GIRL. Think Ziggy Stardust meets U2's stage manager. Tokio Hotel will be arriving in the USA in 2008, you have been warned.

HD Content: Direct Download in 2008

If you do not have an HD-DVD or Blu-ray Player yet then don't worry. Don't even bother pricing them out this holiday season. Why? Because by Summer 2008 DirecTV, Verizon, AT&T and possibly Apple via iTunes will all be offering HD content online downloaded directly to your PC, Cable Set Top Box, DVR or TiVo device. This would replace the need for competiting formats in HD, just downloaded it and save it on a hard drive, a lot like MP3's replaced CD's at the turn of the century.

Microsoft already offers this service via the Xbox Marketplace. If you have an Xbox 360 you can download, Transformers, Ocean's Thirteen and 300 all onto your hard drive. There is no such service for Sony's Playstation yet but I don't think it is that far away.

Also by Spring 2008 most PC Notebook computers will have HDMI ports, so you can connect them directly to your HDTV. Either way buying an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player at this point is a nothing more than an impulse buy.

If your wallet can afford a $400 Blu-ray player impulse.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men Gamespot Review

What Not To Buy

Today I am suggesting you, never, ever, buy this game for anyone below the age of 17 years old. In fact I wouldn't even get this gane if it were given to me for free. I would rather just watch a good gangster movie like Reservoir Dogs instead. I linked the review. See the new post.

By the way the reviewer for this game was release, canned, fired, after giving this game an honest review, because of a conflict of interest, See the publisher of Kane and Lynch bought a lot of ads for the game on Gamespot. As the story goes, "Reportedly Gamespot Editorial Director Jeff Gerstmann was summarily fired because game publisher Eidos didn't like his negative review of its first-person shooter game Kane & Lynch: Dead Men." Read the Full Story Here.
